University of Manitoba - Special Constable
In the fall of 2010, I was hired by The University of Manitoba to work as a Special Constable. I was trained, and graduated from the Winnipeg Police Services Training Academy with the Univeristy of Manitoba Officers Course. I have found my niche within the department and have involved myself with the network of CCTV cameras at the UofM and have taken it upon myself to facilitate the user interface with these cameras in our dispatch office. I was able to combine my Web Design skills and my Geographic Informations System skills to create a simple graphic user interface within a web browser to bring up any of the 800+ cameras at the Fort Garry Campus.
TboneGreen Design - Web/Graphic Designer
In the spring of 2008 I started my own business, TboneGreen Design. I have taken Digital Design Technologies at the University of Manitoba and am self taught in everything else that I have needed to know along the way. I mainly use Adobe Creative Suite and am constantly trying to advance my skills. I have taken on several large clients that are in need of ongoing support. I also have several clientele signed up and waiting for their very own website. A few examples of my work can be found here:
Manitoba Conservation - Park Patrol Officer
In the spring of 2009, I was hired by Manitoba Conservation to work as a Park Patrol Officer at Grand Beach Provincial Park. I was trained, and graduated from University College of the North with the Manitoba Conservation Park Patrol Enforcement Course. I have been involved with a lot of problem wildlife, and have learned a great deal about how to deal with different species of animals native to the area. As a result of working within such a busy Provincial Park, my interpersonal and communication skills have improved drastically.
University of Laval - Student Researcher
I started work with the University of Laval as a joint researcher between ArcticNet, and the Center for Earth Observation Science in August of 2006. I acted as a partner to a very large research team and travelled into the field to collect the required data for the specific region which I was assigned. In this case, I travelled to Churchill, Manitoba to collect fish specimens of the appropriate species that were to be studied. I was also required to use my Geographic Information Systems (GIS) skills while putting together my research reports. I then presented my research and my findings at several different scientific research conferences.
Centre for Earth Observation Science - Student Researcher
My work with the Centre for Earth Observation Science (CEOS) was very similar to my work with University of Laval. This was a year prior to my work with University of Laval, in August of 2006 up until August of 2007. I was conducting research for the same project, only this time it had a different project lead. I travelled to Churchill, Manitoba to get information on the various fish species from the local harvesters. Again, I was required to use my Geographic Information Systems (GIS) skills while putting together my research reports. I then presented my research and my findings at several different scientific research conferences.
I & H Dairy Inc. - Field Manager
I started working at I & H Dairy in August of 1996, and worked there for 13 years. It was a great place to work while putting myself through university. My hours were not fixed, so I was able to work whenever I could, an ideal setup for a university student. I have continued to work there since my graduation, while trying to find my ideal career. I effectively assist in the management of the farm and field work. I also have a lot of experience acting as a welder and heavy duty mechanic, as I keep all of the equipment field ready. As a result of this, I am now a very experienced welder and hold a welding certificate from Winnipeg Technical College.
